New York Post Reports Use of Vitamin C in Hospital Treatment of Coronavirus

The New York Post has recently joined the ranks of several other notable news sources and reported on how hospitals in the severely-impacted city of New York are tackling the COVID-19 pandemic…with mega-doses of Vitamin C.

As expected, there’s little in the way of a “cure” for coronavirus, since it is a virus and the usual treatment for any kind of viral infection, barring the availability of any specific anti-virals, is symptom management and waiting for it to run its course. Medical teams in China have, however, already seen successful recoveries from this intensive Vitamin C treatment which has apparently convinced medical teams stateside to try the same tactic.

Dr. Andrew G. Weber, a pulmonologist and critical-care specialist was quoted as saying his intensive-care coronavirus patients immediately receive 1,500 milligrams of intravenous vitamin C. Identical amounts of the powerful antioxidant are then readministered three or four times a day. These doses are 16 times greater than the National Institutes of Health’s daily recommended dietary allowance of vitamin C which is between 75-90 mg

Weber went on to say that vitamin C levels in coronavirus patients drop dramatically when they suffer sepsis, an inflammatory response that occurs when their bodies overreact to the infection, this is why maintaining high levels of vitamin C becomes critical.

Vitamin C sales have tripled since doctors began using it to treat coronavirus patients.

We recommend making sure your Vitamin C levels are supplemented all the time, but especially during the pandemic. Vitamin C companies are actually reporting their sales have tripled, but they are having no problem securing additional stock, so it’s important that we are sharing these critical resources and do not resort to hoarding. As always, stay safe, stay home and stay healthy!
