Nearly 3/4’s Of ‘Healthy’ Children’s Snacks Can’t Meet Five-A-Day Real Fruit Requirement

A study reveals that 3 out 4 children cereals, juices and ready to eat meals do not provide a 5 a day portion.

It was found that there is not enough fruit in these products. These products use colors and cartoons to 
seem more appealing and that is very misleading in how nutritious they really are.

Manufacturers use the “health halo” effect to disguise the fact that they are high in sugar. Although pre-packed foods for children claim to offer a “balanced and healthy” diet their health and nutrition claims remain doubtful.

About 40% of products for children are unhealthy and lead to obesity. 
Of the 40% of products which claim to have at least one portion of fruit and vegetables most do not meet the amount specified when tested.

Products such as fruit drinks and snacks which claim to have “no added sugars” contain a large quantity 
of concentrated juice. Processed fruits have had fiber and other benefits removed which causes a negative effect and weight gain.

Families are being affected by false food packaging and there should be stricter regulations on food
